Important Updates – March 2020

Wort Hogs,

We hope everyone is staying healthy and those that are able to, are staying home as much as possible. Flatten the curve!

Unfortunately, we will need to press pause on any in-person meetings for the foreseeable future, which includes our monthly meetings and our “Brewer of the Year” dinner at Dynasty. We are doing this to keep our club members safe, as well as our community. While we won’t be able to get together, it doesn’t mean we need to be apart.

We’d like to invite you to a virtual Thirsty Thursday with Lake Anne Brew House next Thursday at 7:30. We’ll plan to host the meeting on Zoom and share a follow-up email with more detail.

We realize that these will be difficult times for our favorite local breweries. We hate to imagine that after the Coronavirus has passed, all we might have left to drink will be actual Coronas. Before the meeting, we encourage you to purchase some Lake Anne beer, giftcards, or participate in their “BeerItForward” campaign and post your purchases on our Instagram or Facebook group. Tag your posts with #nocoronas. Many of you will remember that Jason at Lake Anne Brew House is a Wort Hog and has done many things to support the club over the years including hosting us for a charity competition with an open bar, giving us an opportunity to brew on his system, and matching our charitable donations to a local food bank. Now is our chance to support him. We’ll plan to host several more virtual happy hours in the coming weeks.

Lastly, we are going to take orders for the t-shirt we unveiled during our last meeting. You can place your order here: Wort Hogs t-shirts

The shirts will be sent directly to your home. Now that our dress codes have changed from business casual to a t-shirt and sweat pants, we could all use this snazzy t-shirt to impress people from a safe 6-foot distance. If you gave us your order at the meeting, please place your order again.

The officers are working to come up with other ideas to bridge the social distance while keeping our community safe. If you have your own, let us know!

Stay healthy,

The Wort Hogs Officers
