2021 Competition Schedule
Note: As long as we are operating primarily on a remote basis, we are going to consolidate multiple months to run bigger competitions (like what we just did with Rocket Frog). Every competition there will always be an “open category” in addition to the more restrictive categories.
The first such competition will be in March, for (Jan) “People’s Choice”, (Feb) “Browns, Porters, and Stouts” and (Mar) “American Hoppy Beers”. The exact date and details of that competition are TBD but multiple entries are encouraged and there will be prizes.
First Competition Group (March)
January – People’s Choice
February – Browns, Porters, Stouts: 9C, 13C, 13B, 15B, 15C, 16A, 16B, 16C, 16D,19C, 20A, 20B, 20C
March – American Hoppy Beers: 18B, 19A, 21A, 21B (NEIPA), 22A
Second Competition Group (June)
April – Clone recipes: brew your favorite commercial beer, bonus points if it is available in stores for a side-by-side
May – Rare Styles: 3D, 6B, 7B, 9C, 10B, 11A-C, 12C, 14A-B, 16C, 17A, 21B (Black IPA; Red IPA), 27, 24C
June – Lawnmower Beers: lagers, pilsners and session ales. Anything light and low ABV.
Third Competition Group (September)
July – Belgian Beers: 24A, 24B, 24C, 25A, 25B, 25C, 26A,26B, 26C,26D
August – Fruit: Anything with a fruit base (Cider, Perry etc) or fruit used as an additive.
September – Blended Beer: two beers blended together to be better than one!
Intended to be two separate bottles combined and collaboration with another club member encouraged but not required. Blended beers can be previous entries.
Fourth Competition Group (December)
October – Beers of the British Isles: 11A-C, 12A, 12C, 13A, 14A-C, 15A, 17A-D
November – Strong Ales: 9A-C, 17A-D, 22A-D, 25A-C
December – Dessert Beers and Sours: base beer is typically a Stout, IPA, Wood Aged or Sour Ale style; open to brewer’s interpretation and creativity – meant to be fun adjunct-laden (i.e. chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla, coconut, fruits, nuts, peppers, etc.) beer meant to push the limits of modern beer

October – Real Ales (typically a session beer that has fermented in the vessel from which it is served and the carbonation is entirely natural, not forced)
November: Mead, Cider, Spiced Beer: M1-4, C1, C2, 30A, 30B, 30C
